[Mordecai's unhappy growl sounds a little more pissed off than usual. However, he keeps his voice even as he speaks his request.]

I need a medic. Deck 11, Room 2458.

[Mordecai is in denial and probably always will be. Feelings are for losers.]

Guard duty is a bore. Come say hi, if you're in the area.

[All this talking and they've still never met face to face.]

[Are you floating down that river in Egypt too, Mord?]

Sure thing.

[She's got cabin fever, Ironhide's sudden desire to die, then reappear makes her not...want to sit still. This boat has her on edge.

She appears a few minutes later in the hall, strolling towards him. Or at least who she thinks is him.

[Tis a long, harsh journey, but one he will probably still be on when he dies. He's cool like that.

The sound of footsteps down the otherwise empty hall is enough to catch his attention. Mordecai looks up and... admires.]

Well, well.

[Alas!

She comes up to him, hands on her hips and grinning.
]

Nice t'meet you, too.

From: [identity profile] bastardbytrade.livejournal.com
[Her grin is infectious. Mordecai finds himself grinning right back.]

It's good to finally put a face to the name.

[She's caught him on one of his more relaxed days, where the mask is no where to be seen. What Mikaela would be seeing is a tall, skinny but fit looking Latino man with dreadlocks and an amazing goatee.]

Date: 2010-04-11 04:46 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chopshopgoddess.livejournal.com
[She sticks her hand out to shake his.]

It is, isn't it? Nice t'meet you in person.

[That goatee is really amazing.]

From: [identity profile] bastardbytrade.livejournal.com
[He takes her hand and gives it a single shake before letting it go again. Handshakes have never been his kind of thing, but when a girl that looks like Mikaela offers her hand, Mordecai damn well takes it.]

Now I know who to look out for.

[Mordecai smiles a bit but it doesn't last long. The past few days have been rather irritating, more so today with the addition of an injured ally to accompany the mysterious pleading voice that no one can shut up.]

How're you holding up with all the noise?

Date: 2010-04-12 01:33 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chopshopgoddess.livejournal.com
[She folds her arms and leans against the wall. She has to think about her answer.]

Alright, I guess. Mostly kinda ignoring it at this point. Ironhide got himself killed and I...pretty much lost interest in it.

Date: 2010-04-12 01:49 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bastardbytrade.livejournal.com
Ironhide. I can't say I know the guy.

[Mordecai can't help but think it's a strange name.]

Understandable I guess, the lack of interest. Personally I'd be up for revenge, but this ain't the kind of enemy I'm used to. He went to the theater, right?

[It might take him a bit to click that this conversation probably isn't what she's after.]

Date: 2010-04-12 02:21 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chopshopgoddess.livejournal.com
Remember those giant alien robots I was telling you about? He's one of them. Except...here on the boat, he's more like eight feet tall instead of like, twenty.

[That and if she went looking for Revenge Ironhide might kill her himself out of sheer frustration.]

Yeah, the theater. Not long after all the weird crazy voices started.

Date: 2010-04-14 01:18 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bastardbytrade.livejournal.com
[Mordecai nods.]

That's a handy size change. I'm not sure where he'd fit otherwise.

[At the confirmation of the theater being the place of death, Mordecai falls silent and watches her.]

That sucks. I'm tempted to say we torch the damn thing.

Date: 2010-04-14 01:25 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chopshopgoddess.livejournal.com
[She laughs and nods.]

Definitely handy. He'd probably sink the boat if he were normal sized.

[She's quiet too, and she toys with a lock of hair.]

Yeah, me too. Doubt it'd work, but doesn't keep me from wishing. [Eying him carefully, she shrugs.]

People are gonna go back in, even though several people died already. Wish they wouldn't.

Date: 2010-04-14 01:36 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bastardbytrade.livejournal.com
[Mordecai sighs and leans against the wall, arms folded across his chest.]

At the most it might keep a few more idiots from getting killed without thought. People are gonna do what they like. No one's thinking too clearly right now so they're all just rushing in.

Date: 2010-04-14 01:50 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chopshopgoddess.livejournal.com
No, they definitely aren't. It's dumb, that's what it is, because for all we know that screaming chick is bad news. I'm not so sure anyone should be helping her. Everythin on this boat is a freakin' trick.

[She flops on the wall next to him, tugging thoughtfully at her hair.]

Too many 'noble' people here, Ironhide included.

Date: 2010-04-14 02:02 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bastardbytrade.livejournal.com
You got that right. But idiots keep looking for the day when stuff works.

[He shrugs.]

Noble? Probably, yeah. I reckon more than a few of them just want the noise to stop.

[Mordecai snickers at that.]

Everybody wants to be the hero.

Date: 2010-04-14 02:11 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chopshopgoddess.livejournal.com
Yeah, that too. Noise is irritating and freaky. [She still feels torqued off about Ironhide.]

Well...sometimes the hero screws up and we all pay for it. Isn't that how Greek mythology always goes? I mean, Odysseus got a whole crew killed cause he wanted to go home. Nice, right? Wonder if we're all gonna wind up dead cause some bozo thinks he's helping.

[BITTER MUCH?]

Date: 2010-04-14 02:29 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bastardbytrade.livejournal.com
[Mordecai's never been big on Greek mythology, but the names are familiar enough and he gets the basis of the story from what Mikaela has said.

The change in her tone is noticed and he finds himself intrigued, if not a little amused.]

That sounds about right. I've seen my fair share of deals like that. 'Hero' steps in to save the settlement and ends up pissing off a spiderant colony instead. It was a mess to walk into.

[He shakes his head.]

You got someone to watch your back if everything goes to hell?

[Over the past year or so, Mordecai has learned about a thing called a 'team' and the plus side of having people you trust in the field. Not that he'll ever admit it.]

Date: 2010-04-14 02:34 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chopshopgoddess.livejournal.com
Exactly. I don't really want that to happen, even if some of said 'bozos' are my friends. [This includes YOU Mord.]

Probably. Ironhide appointed himself my guardian, but since Ratchet's shown up, he's slacked off a bit. Should be okay, though.

[Hopefully.] Got a weapon, at any rate.

Yeah, I hear you. Can't see it working out though.

[Mordecai just happens to be one of the people that gets bored quickly and resorts to reckless acts in a bid to entertain ones self. For that reason, he shall be King Bozo. 8|]

If he fails or can't get there, you call me. Alright?

[It's rare that he makes an offer to work for free. The mention of a weapon catches his interest.]

Weapon? What have you got?

Date: 2010-04-14 03:16 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chopshopgoddess.livejournal.com
Me either.

[Dammit Mordecai.

She glances over at him, brow lifted.
]

I'll do that. [She grins at him. She figured that'd catch his attention.]

Bow and arrow. A uh...friend of mine made it ages ago. Took him forever. Bit primitive, but it does the job.

Date: 2010-04-14 03:23 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bastardbytrade.livejournal.com
[Mordecai smiles. It's one of those rare moments where his expression is completely free of arrogance or mockery. He's genuinely pleased by her acceptance of his offer, as well as her choice of weapon.]

A ranged weapon? Good choice.

[Mikaela just got the Sniper stamp of approval.]

You'll have to show me some time. How many rounds-- arrows?

[Primitive weaponry specs. It's killing him to not be able to ask about the magnification on the scope or how fast and smooth the reload time is, but he will make do. It's kinda like a rifle... kinda.]

From: [identity profile] chopshopgoddess.livejournal.com
[She returns his smile, then nods once.]

Yeah. Not bad, considering it's made from material found on 12. It's...fairly good quality, actually. [She LOVES it.]

I've got about twenty arrows in the quiver, that's it. He had a tough time finding things to make the arrow heads out of. I'll show you whenever you want. We can take it to the forest or something. Target practice.

From: [identity profile] bastardbytrade.livejournal.com
[Oh this has most certainly got his attention. It's good to be thinking about something other than what's going on with the ship. What's more, it's a weapon that suits his style. Already, Mordecai is weighing up his options of creating something similar for himself, though perhaps with a few differences.]

Hunting in the forest? Sounds like a deal to me.

[He starts to move, pauses and casts a short glance at Lilith's closed door. It's a tough choice to make. On one hand, he really wants to see that weapon and to hang out with Mikaela some more, but on the other, he's not sure he trusts the medic robot enough to leave a wounded buddy alone with no back up.

Mordecai makes an gruff sound and leans back against the wall.]

I'd say now, but I'm leery of the robot. We'll make it soon though, alright?

Date: 2010-04-15 12:03 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chopshopgoddess.livejournal.com
Sounds good to me.

[Her eyes flick to the closed door, and her lips try to curve into a small smile. She gets it; if it was Ironhide in there she wouldn't leave him either.

Then again, Ironhide is a stubborn jerk and won't let the ship's medic (WHO HAS TOOLS) help him, so...There you have it.
]

That's fine, whenever you're free. I've hardly got any kind of schedule going on here.

Date: 2010-04-15 12:39 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bastardbytrade.livejournal.com
[Perhaps unlucky for Mikaela, he notices that glance and the slightly upward twitch of her lips.]

She's team. Don't go getting the wrong idea.

[Look at him, being all tough and manly and... deliberately refusing to acknowledge any attachment to the Siren. He's a free man, dammit.]

I'm not sure any of us do. You've caught me on a rare moment of actually doing something.
