Yeah, that too. Noise is irritating and freaky. [She still feels torqued off about Ironhide.]
Well...sometimes the hero screws up and we all pay for it. Isn't that how Greek mythology always goes? I mean, Odysseus got a whole crew killed cause he wanted to go home. Nice, right? Wonder if we're all gonna wind up dead cause some bozo thinks he's helping.
[Mordecai's never been big on Greek mythology, but the names are familiar enough and he gets the basis of the story from what Mikaela has said.
The change in her tone is noticed and he finds himself intrigued, if not a little amused.]
That sounds about right. I've seen my fair share of deals like that. 'Hero' steps in to save the settlement and ends up pissing off a spiderant colony instead. It was a mess to walk into.
[He shakes his head.]
You got someone to watch your back if everything goes to hell?
[Over the past year or so, Mordecai has learned about a thing called a 'team' and the plus side of having people you trust in the field. Not that he'll ever admit it.]
Yeah, I hear you. Can't see it working out though.
[Mordecai just happens to be one of the people that gets bored quickly and resorts to reckless acts in a bid to entertain ones self. For that reason, he shall be King Bozo. 8|]
If he fails or can't get there, you call me. Alright?
[It's rare that he makes an offer to work for free. The mention of a weapon catches his interest.]
[Mordecai smiles. It's one of those rare moments where his expression is completely free of arrogance or mockery. He's genuinely pleased by her acceptance of his offer, as well as her choice of weapon.]
A ranged weapon? Good choice.
[Mikaela just got the Sniper stamp of approval.]
You'll have to show me some time. How many rounds-- arrows?
[Primitive weaponry specs. It's killing him to not be able to ask about the magnification on the scope or how fast and smooth the reload time is, but he will make do. It's kinda like a rifle... kinda.]
Yeah. Not bad, considering it's made from material found on 12. It's...fairly good quality, actually. [She LOVES it.]
I've got about twenty arrows in the quiver, that's it. He had a tough time finding things to make the arrow heads out of. I'll show you whenever you want. We can take it to the forest or something. Target practice.
[Oh this has most certainly got his attention. It's good to be thinking about something other than what's going on with the ship. What's more, it's a weapon that suits his style. Already, Mordecai is weighing up his options of creating something similar for himself, though perhaps with a few differences.]
Hunting in the forest? Sounds like a deal to me.
[He starts to move, pauses and casts a short glance at Lilith's closed door. It's a tough choice to make. On one hand, he really wants to see that weapon and to hang out with Mikaela some more, but on the other, he's not sure he trusts the medic robot enough to leave a wounded buddy alone with no back up.
Mordecai makes an gruff sound and leans back against the wall.]
I'd say now, but I'm leery of the robot. We'll make it soon though, alright?
[Her eyes flick to the closed door, and her lips try to curve into a small smile. She gets it; if it was Ironhide in there she wouldn't leave him either.
Then again, Ironhide is a stubborn jerk and won't let the ship's medic (WHO HAS TOOLS) help him, so...There you have it.]
That's fine, whenever you're free. I've hardly got any kind of schedule going on here.
[And it's pissing him off. Mordecai likes his being able to roam as he pleases. He'd been starting to adjust to being cooped up, but the voice is putting him on edge and it's starting to get at him again.
He switches aggravation for amusement. No sense in getting angry if there's no one to take it out on.]
What can I say, I'm a nice guy.
[He really isn't. Well, depending on who you are. Most times he's not.]
Fair enough. Okay, how about this...try driving a stolen car you hotwired with a psychotic femmebot on top with a six foot tongue that's wrapped around your buddys neck.
My friend was human. Had another in the back seat shrieking his head off. You know how irritating that is? Anyway, ended up running the psycho-bitch over after I smashed her into a pole, but we ended up snagged by a helicopter that wasn't really a copter and flown via extension cable over the city to an abandoned warehouse where said friend almost had his brain harvested by a crab bot.
[He raises his eyebrows at that. Once upon a time, he might of called bullshit and probably mocked her claims. Now? Mordecai has seen and done enough crazy stuff in the past twelve or so years to know better.]
So two guys had to be saved by a girl. I bet that went down well.

Date: 2010-04-14 02:34 pm (UTC)Probably. Ironhide appointed himself my guardian, but since Ratchet's shown up, he's slacked off a bit. Should be okay, though.
[Hopefully.] Got a weapon, at any rate.

She glances over at him, brow lifted.]
I'll do that. [She grins at him. She figured that'd catch his attention.]
Bow and arrow. A uh...friend of mine made it ages ago. Took him forever. Bit primitive, but it does the job.

[Look at him, being all tough and manly and... deliberately refusing to acknowledge any attachment to the Siren. He's a free man, dammit.]
I'm not sure any of us do. You've caught me on a rare moment of actually doing something.

[Yes, he's so very tough and manly, Mikaela might just swoon.
She chuckles.]
Pretty much...I have no agenda here. Gets boring sometimes, with nothing to actually work on. I miss my shop.

This boat's got everything we're supposed to want but nothing we really want.
[He regards her for a second or two, and then, Mordecai grins.]
I can trash a zoomer if you want. That'll give you something to work on.
html fail right thar

Yeah, pretty much. Glorified prison is what it is.
