He messed her up pretty bad, but I'm guessing he didn't get away without damage of his own.

She gonna be okay?

Heh. Yeah.

She's too stubborn to go down. The ship's doc is with her now.

[Chances are, Mordecai is standing just outside the room while AMU does his thing.]

Well, that's good.

Where are you at?

Right now? Deck 11.

[There's a pause to contemplate why the hell he's still there.]

Making sure she remains cooperative.

[Yeah. That's the reason. Sure.]

[She lifts a brow, smiling slowly. Heh. Sounds like someone is in de-niiiile. She should introduce him to Ironhide.]

Ah. Well, I'm roaming around. Need anything while you hold the wall up?

[Mordecai is in denial and probably always will be. Feelings are for losers.]

Guard duty is a bore. Come say hi, if you're in the area.

[All this talking and they've still never met face to face.]

[Are you floating down that river in Egypt too, Mord?]

Sure thing.

[She's got cabin fever, Ironhide's sudden desire to die, then reappear makes her not...want to sit still. This boat has her on edge.

She appears a few minutes later in the hall, strolling towards him. Or at least who she thinks is him.]

[Tis a long, harsh journey, but one he will probably still be on when he dies. He's cool like that.

The sound of footsteps down the otherwise empty hall is enough to catch his attention. Mordecai looks up and... admires.]

Well, well.

[Alas!

She comes up to him, hands on her hips and grinning.]

Nice t'meet you, too.

[Her grin is infectious. Mordecai finds himself grinning right back.]

It's good to finally put a face to the name.

[She's caught him on one of his more relaxed days, where the mask is no where to be seen. What Mikaela would be seeing is a tall, skinny but fit looking Latino man with dreadlocks and an amazing goatee.]

[She sticks her hand out to shake his.]

It is, isn't it? Nice t'meet you in person.

[That goatee is really amazing.]

[He takes her hand and gives it a single shake before letting it go again. Handshakes have never been his kind of thing, but when a girl that looks like Mikaela offers her hand, Mordecai damn well takes it.]

Now I know who to look out for.

[Mordecai smiles a bit but it doesn't last long. The past few days have been rather irritating, more so today with the addition of an injured ally to accompany the mysterious pleading voice that no one can shut up.]

How're you holding up with all the noise?

[She folds her arms and leans against the wall. She has to think about her answer.]

Alright, I guess. Mostly kinda ignoring it at this point. Ironhide got himself killed and I...pretty much lost interest in it.

Ironhide. I can't say I know the guy.

[Mordecai can't help but think it's a strange name.]

Understandable I guess, the lack of interest. Personally I'd be up for revenge, but this ain't the kind of enemy I'm used to. He went to the theater, right?

[It might take him a bit to click that this conversation probably isn't what she's after.]

Remember those giant alien robots I was telling you about? He's one of them. Except...here on the boat, he's more like eight feet tall instead of like, twenty.

[That and if she went looking for Revenge Ironhide might kill her himself out of sheer frustration.]

Yeah, the theater. Not long after all the weird crazy voices started.

[Mordecai nods.]

That's a handy size change. I'm not sure where he'd fit otherwise.

[At the confirmation of the theater being the place of death, Mordecai falls silent and watches her.]

That sucks. I'm tempted to say we torch the damn thing.

[She laughs and nods.]

Definitely handy. He'd probably sink the boat if he were normal sized.

[She's quiet too, and she toys with a lock of hair.]

Yeah, me too. Doubt it'd work, but doesn't keep me from wishing. [Eying him carefully, she shrugs.]

People are gonna go back in, even though several people died already. Wish they wouldn't.

[Mordecai sighs and leans against the wall, arms folded across his chest.]

At the most it might keep a few more idiots from getting killed without thought. People are gonna do what they like. No one's thinking too clearly right now so they're all just rushing in.

No, they definitely aren't. It's dumb, that's what it is, because for all we know that screaming chick is bad news. I'm not so sure anyone should be helping her. Everythin on this boat is a freakin' trick.

[She flops on the wall next to him, tugging thoughtfully at her hair.]

Too many 'noble' people here, Ironhide included.

You got that right. But idiots keep looking for the day when stuff works.

[He shrugs.]

Noble? Probably, yeah. I reckon more than a few of them just want the noise to stop.

[Mordecai snickers at that.]

Everybody wants to be the hero.

Yeah, that too. Noise is irritating and freaky. [She still feels torqued off about Ironhide.]

Well...sometimes the hero screws up and we all pay for it. Isn't that how Greek mythology always goes? I mean, Odysseus got a whole crew killed cause he wanted to go home. Nice, right? Wonder if we're all gonna wind up dead cause some bozo thinks he's helping.

[BITTER MUCH?]

[Mordecai's never been big on Greek mythology, but the names are familiar enough and he gets the basis of the story from what Mikaela has said.

The change in her tone is noticed and he finds himself intrigued, if not a little amused.]

That sounds about right. I've seen my fair share of deals like that. 'Hero' steps in to save the settlement and ends up pissing off a spiderant colony instead. It was a mess to walk into.

[He shakes his head.]

You got someone to watch your back if everything goes to hell?

[Over the past year or so, Mordecai has learned about a thing called a 'team' and the plus side of having people you trust in the field. Not that he'll ever admit it.]

Exactly. I don't really want that to happen, even if some of said 'bozos' are my friends. [This includes YOU Mord.]

Probably. Ironhide appointed himself my guardian, but since Ratchet's shown up, he's slacked off a bit. Should be okay, though.

[Hopefully.] Got a weapon, at any rate.
